There is nothing like spending time at home, especially if we have made it the cosiest area of our environment. We all like to keep up to date with all the new trends, and we are no different in this respect. Therefore, we are constantly looking out for the latest developments in architecture and design to inspire us and help us create the most innovative projects.
Since we know that you also like to stay ahead of the trends for the following year, we have put together a collection of the best of these tendencies and you can read about them in this blog post.
Calm and Naturalness
Natural tones and shapes that reflect peace and quiet will be a basic trend, because after spending so much time at home during the pandemic, we have all come to realize the importance of making our home a cosy space where we can relax. Here neutral or natural colours, ranging from white and beige tones to various shades of grey, come into play. But when we say spontaneity and naturalness, we are also referring to the elements of nature, and we see these in shades of green for walls, generating a marked contrast with the furniture and the décor whilst offering a sense of tranquillity like few other colours can. By adding a combination of natural materials such as stones and light-coloured wood to this, we will fill our space with life.
Likewise, green areas in the home and the use of plants are a trend that we will see continue into future seasons, because they represent our own little piece of nature in our homes, and this is something that we have really missed.
Minimalist
We all know that clutter is not good and that spaces without over-elaborate elements bring us peace of mind; minimalism is one of our favourite trends and one that has remained in fashion over the years. In the post-pandemic world this will not change. Minimalist decor together with the trends that we have already mentioned are the starting point for spectacular spaces, where each piece has been well thought out and chosen for a purpose.
Round and Retro
Another trend that we will see in both architecture and design is the use of round shapes in furniture, lighting and decor within the home, and the use of arches in constructions as the rounded forms inspire softness and finesse. Round shapes were very popular in the 1970s, and this is precisely where we find another of the trends that we are seeing as a counterpoint to the minimalist style, which is none other than a return of the bold colours and textures of the seventies.
Multifunctional spaces
Because we need to be prepared for any situation, whether it be working from home or practicing a sport, we must find a way to use our space in the best possible way. In this way, we will look for ample spaces where we can do various activities, and which do not interfere with our everyday lives. Having a corner allocated to each activity, such as working, for example, does not mean that all the activities cannot coexist harmoniously within the same space.
